In my experience this is the most handy tool of all. When I hover over the icon (in my quick access bar) it indicates that this Show/Hide tool is available in ALL the Office Suite of apps. Press Ctrl + to display or hide the formatting symbols. It has been possible to do so in Word for zonks. These symbols represent spaces, new paragraphs, page breaks, and other bits of text and page formatting.

If you tick this box, the Show/Hide button will be toggled on when you look at the document again. Click the Multiple Pages button to see multiple full pages side by side.
